I’m MamaK and on any given day these are the topics I will be mumbling about.
Girls: I’m surrounded! I have 4 girls, better known as the Dixon Chicks. Twelve years separate the oldest to youngest. Bright, beautiful, and bold is how I would simply describe them. Don’t get me wrong, they are by no means simple! They are amazing, complicated, and different from each other in so many ways. They are the perfect human display of God’s creativity. I see before my eyes each day how He has carefully and purposefully created each one to be unique. While there are times that I think life would be easier if they were all clones, I know my life is so much richer because of their differences. And I do mean differences! From the oldest brunette to the second blonde to the dark headed third to the baby blonde they bring a party wherever they go.
Life as Lolli: Five years ago I met this beautiful baby boy, grandson #1, and instantly became Lolli. My husband became Pops on the same day! So together we started this new journey as Lolli and Pops. Also referred to as Lollipops! (Yes, it’s crazy and funny and makes me smile.) Grandson #2 joined us two years ago and we are learning what it is like to have boys. I am beginning to understand what snips and snails and puppy dog tails are all about.
Pastor G: The mainstay love of my life. The man of few words ( how could he ever talk much with all of these girls around?). Dad to the Dixon Chicks, leader of the Kardixions, Pops, and shepherd (not to real sheep that say Baaaaaaaah) to a wonderful, faithful herd of sheep. Keeper of the door, simplifier of confusion, lover of order, giver of sound advice and wearer of THE ROBE ( yes, it deserves all caps). The English proverb “Still waters run deep.” would accurately describe Pastor G. Oh, and I should mention that his baby blues could win a contest any old day.
Moms and Babes: I have been a NICU nurse for 30 plus years. Working full time before I had my own babes and working part time or PRN (as needed) most of my days, I am continually amazed at these little miracles. There are happy stories as well as heartbreaking journeys. I have learned much from these small patients and have been blessed to witness the miracle of new life each time I work. It has been an honor to work with an amazing bunch of skilled, dedicated NICU ninjas! These professionals are the real deal!
Food, fun, and fellowship: Every family, church, or social function should always include good food, lots of laughs, and plenty of chatter. There will be recipes to share, party ideas to discuss and general commotion to cover.
Let’s chat about life, love, and the giver of life and love, Jesus. The grace giver, joy maker, and heart healer. The One Who knows me better than I know myself and still pursues me anyway! The One Who cannot be described in mere human terms but became human to save us. The One Who loves unconditionally even better than your mama ever could and that’s some perfect lovin’. I am amazed and humbled to think that He calls us to be His friends. Now that’s reason for a party!
